Ozempic is indicated for use in adult patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus against a diet and exercise to improve glycemic control as:

Doses

1. Prepare a syringe pen with a new needle for use

 

• Remove the cap from the syringe pen.

• Place the needle on the pen and rotate it to keep the needle tightly on the syringe.

 

• Remove the outer cap of the needle, but do not throw it away. You will need it after the injection is complete to safely remove the needle from the syringe pen.

Always use a new needle for each injection. Never use a needle if it is bent or damaged.

 

 

2. Check the supply of the drug

 

• Rotate the dose selector until the dose counter is equal to a symbol that checks medication supply.

 

• Hold the pen syringe with the needle up. Press and hold the Start button until the Dose counter returns to "0". "0" should stand opposite the pointer of the dose. A drop of solution should appear at the end of the needle.

 

Always make sure that there is a drop of solution at the end of the needle before using a new syringe pen for the first time. This guarantees the supply of the drug. If there is no drop of solution, the drug will not be injected, even if the dose counter will move. This may indicate that the needle is blocked or damaged. If intake is not checked before the first injection with each new syringe pen, the patient may not administer the required dose and the expected effect of Ozempic will not be achieved.

 

 

3. Dose Setting

 

• Rotate the dose selector until it shows the required dose.

 

• If the correct dose has not been selected, rotate the dose selector forward or backward until the correct dose is set.

 

• You should not count the clicks of a syringe pen.

 

 

4. Ozempic injection

 

• Inject a needle under the skin, using an injection technique recommended by a doctor or nurse.

 

• Make sure that the dose counter is in sight of the person administering the injection. Do not touch the dose counter with your fingers - this may interrupt the injection.

 

• Press the start button all the way down and hold it in this position until the dose counter shows "0". The "0" must be exactly opposite the dose indicator. At the same time, the patient may hear or feel a click.

• medullary thyroid cancer in the history, including family history;

Use of Ozempic is contraindicated in the following groups of patients and in the following states/diseases due to lack of data on efficacy and safety or limited experience in use:

 

• pregnancy and the period of breastfeeding;

 

• age under 18 years;

 

• severe liver insufficiency;

 

• terminal stage of renal insufficiency (creatinine Cl <15 ml/min);

 

• Chronic Heart Failure (CHF), functional class IV (according to the NYHA classification).

 

 

Caution: Ozempic is recommended to be used with caution for patients with renal failure and patients with pancreatitis in the history.
